Mvumi Hospital is located in Mvumi Misheni village, Chamwino District, Dodoma Region and is under the supervision of the Anglican Church of Tanzania Central Region. This hospital provides services to the residents of Dodoma rural areas with over 280 beds. Mvumi Hospital is the only hospital in Dodoma rural areas with the capacity to serve over 400,000 people per year. In 2008, President Jakaya Kikwete declared that it would become a Council Hospital and it became official in 2009. The government pays the salaries of hospital staff and medicines separately from funds for projects and medical equipment. Our Services
1. Ophthalmology (Eye Care)
Comprehensive eye exams, cataract surgeries, glaucoma management, and vision correction. Equipment: Slit lamps, tonometers, and phacoemulsification machines. Outreach: Mobile eye camps for rural communities.
2. Outpatient Services
General consultations, chronic disease management (diabetes, hypertension), and minor procedures. Hours: Mon–Fri (8:00 AM – 5:00 PM).
3. Maternal & Child Health
Antenatal/postnatal care, safe delivery services, immunizations, and nutrition counseling. Special: Neonatal care for premature babies.
4. Laboratory & Diagnostics
Blood tests (CBC, malaria, glucose), microbiology, imaging (X-ray, ultrasound), and HIV/TB screening. Turnaround: Rapid results for critical tests.
5. Surgical Services
Minor surgeries (stitches, abscess drainage) and major procedures (appendectomies, hernia repairs). Theater Hours: Elective surgeries scheduled weekly.
6. Community Health Programs
Vaccination drives, HIV/AIDS awareness, and diabetes/hypertension screenings. Partners: Collaborate with local NGOs and government initiatives.
